Okay so before I get into explaining this I just want to make it clear that I have been doing parkour for ages and I have a background in gymnastics so I’m pretty comfortable with jumping, flipping, heights etc. If your a complete newbie and want to give this a go I would start with parkour as adding ladders into the mix is dangerous. I have had a few injuries so yeah like I said be careful and know what you are doing.

A good start to pomparkour and basic trick is the Cat Hook. I’m stoked after practicing and a number of injuries to finally nail it. For those of you who don’t know, the Cat Hook is where yourun at a wall (insane I know) and do a massive leap to attach your ladder to the top of the wall, then climb on up. We had some sweet weather in the weekend which let us guys get out and about. I've uploaded some photos of us practicing and trust me, it looks easier than it is! Try spot this trick also in the video montage!

Get up!

These kicks are pretty tight and I finally bought them in the weekend. Super comfy and pretty grippy. They're called 'Nike Zoom KD II - Scoring Title'

Just thought I’d explain to you guys a little more about the ladders, as I mentioned them earlier in my first post. Now we all know ladders are pretty heavy, so it’s not easy carrying them around let alone doing tricks on them but Pomparkour ladders are slightly different. These ladders are custom built, made from light aluminum that weigh less than 10kg (so you can easily carry these bad boys around and do some mean tricks). They also have a strong chrome hook attached to the top that’s coated in rubber to grip the sides of buildings and reduce slippage! Check out my ladder in the pic above… I’ll chuck up some videos soon for you guys to check out some crazy tricks!

One day when I was cruising the net I discovered to my complete horror, that there was not one blog about Pomparkour. So I thought – f*@k it! I’ll start my own.

If you don’t already know, Pomparkour is the most awesome thing ever. It’s an urban sport, it’s pretty new and it’s my life!

Pomparkour takes all the good bits of Parkour and mixes it up with a little bit of Pompier or ‘Hakenleitersteigen’ which is this messed up European sport where people climb ladders crazy fast.

So yeah, with Pomparkour you climb, jump and traverse over buildings and stuff with a ladder to help you. The ladders give you extra reach and allow you to do all sorts of unique tricks. They’re special ladders though – they are made of ultra-lightweight aluminium and have a chrome hook coated in rubber at one end to hook onto buildings.

It’s pretty physically challenging. I’ve been doing parkour and some stunt work for a couple of years now, and a full-on day of Pomparkour still completely wastes me for a week. But some of the amazing tricks you can do on different building features make it completely worth it. It can be a little like skating down the side of a building. Awesome.

Anyway – I don’t know if I’m explaining any of this properly so I’ll make sure I get together some films, photos, etc for my next couple of posts.
